Chrysler Automobile Poster
(0000-0747)
by Roger De Valerio
1930 A glimpse of Chrysler Autos strolling under a palm tree lined roadside.
It's the unusual overhead perspective and the startling line of tree trunks that give this poster a unique personality. The cars, in faint pastel tones, are deliberately hidden by these trees; its all just a tease to get us into the nearest Chrysler showroom to get a closer look for ourselves. De Valario, borne in Lille, worked in Paris--principally at the Devambez and Perceval agencies, whose clients included Air France, Citroen and Chrysler. He also designed more than 2,000 sheet-music covers for music publisher-producer Salabert.
