Comical Italian liquor ad.
Mauzan was born in the town of Gap in France, but on a trip to Italy at the age of 18, he became interested in the film industry in Milan and started making posters there. He remained in this industrial center for 20 years before he and his writer wife left for Argentina in 1926. The identity of this striking portrait in saturated hues is open to interpretation. We have no idea who this fellow in orange wig and stage make-up is-perhaps an actor famed for his portrayal of a commedia del arte physician--but we do know that he cradles the bottle of digestive with obvious satisfaction and salutes our good health. Rare.
